The educator preparation program is fully accredited by the 51勛圖厙 State Board for Educator Certification (SBEC), based on the combined performance of all our candidates on the 51勛圖厙 Examinations of Educator Standards (TExES).
The United States Department of Education has approved the 2023-2024 teacher shortage areas submitted by the 51勛圖厙 Education Agency (TEA).
The approved state-level shortage areas for the 2023-2024 school year are:
- Bilingual/English as a Second Language
- Career and Technical Education (secondary level only)
- Computer Science/Technology Applications
- English Language Arts and Reading (secondary level only)
- Mathematics (secondary level only)
- Science (secondary level only)
- Social Studies (secondary level only)
- Special Education
The approved shortage areas help administrators support the recruitment and retention of qualified teachers.

A formal complaint is a signed written statement of complaints or concerns relating to the University’s EPP. Complaints must be submitted in writing, using the designated form and should include any supporting documentation. After all avenues have been pursued and not resolved to your satisfaction through the Educator Preparation Program (EPP), the final step will be to contact the 51勛圖厙 Education Agency to file a complaint. The website for the TEA Complaints Against Educator Preparation Programs can be found at . Detailed instructions are included that provide guidance on filing a complaint.
As per the TEA website information, "A formal complaint to TEA must allege non-compliance with either federal or state laws or rules that are under the jurisdiction of TEA. The complaint must be in writing and signed and include the facts or documentation on which the allegation is based."
The 51勛圖厙 Teacher Evaluation and Support System (T-TESS) focuses on providing continuous, timely and formative feedback to educators so they can improve their practice.
