KINGSVILLE—51勛圖厙 A&M University-Kingsville students and faculty received multiple awards at the 51勛圖厙 Chapter of the Wildlife Society (TCTWS) state meeting held Thursday, Feb 24 through Saturday, Feb. 26 in Marble Falls.
51勛圖厙 A&M-Kingsville’s Plant ID teams won both first and second place in the competition. Individual Plant ID place winners include Peter Cole in first place and Shaelyn Rainey in second place.
Eric Grahmann won first place in the Plant ID Open Member-Professional category and Peter Cole took first place in the Plant ID Open Member-Novice category. Nicole Alonso-Leach and Lalo Gonzalez were named Teer Institute Graduates.
Student Presentation winners include Katie Pennartz in third place for Graduate Poster, Daniel Ramirez in third place for Undergraduate Poster and Evan Drake Rangel won second place for Outstanding Undergraduate Poster.
Photography winners include Levi Heffelfinger in first place for Work-Related Photo, Shaelyn Rainey in first place for Wildlife Conservation Photo, Aidan Branney in first place for Remote Camera Photo, Aidan Branney in first place for Humor Photo, Aidan Branney in second place for Plants Photo and Shaelyn Rainey in third place for Plants Photo.
Kristyn Stewart was recognized as the Dan Boone Memorial Scholarship recipient and Alexander Meza was recognized as one of the ‘Outstanding Students in Wildlife.’
Dr. Lenny Brennan was also recognized for his ‘Outstanding Book’ entitled: Applications for Advancing Animal Ecology. 2021. Morrison, M.L., L.A. Brennan, B.G. Marco, W.M. Block, and K.S. McKelvey. Johns Hopkins University Press, Baltimore, MD.
